We had a lovely holiday break! It was refreshing, productive, and full of family and friends. With Neil’s birthday on Dec. 28 and his sister’s the day before we always have back to back celebrations between Christmas, birthdays and New Years. It is always very fun but also can be tiring in between visiting family and friends that are home to the Bay Area for the holidays.

We spent most of the holiday up in Napa with Neil’s family playing games, taking walks and doing puzzles. With lots of tasty food, coffee, homebrew and great wine we had a great time celebrating. We spent a morning celebrating with my family on our way back to Oakland which completed our holiday circuit.

One of the great things living about an hour from both of our hometowns is that we get to see lots of friends who live out of state or even the country around the holidays when they come home. We had some friends in town for Neil’s birthday and we all visited this great new spot in Oakland, Drake’s Dealership for brews and bites. We also had a number of friend stay with us on their way through the Bay Area and got to share lovely meals with them. We got to ring in the new year at a fabulous NYE wedding for Neil’s cousin. It was such a fun excuse to get dressed up and dance the night away… plus I love champagne.

I worked on a few crafty things over the holidays I will touch on more this month on the blog including a crochet project and my new coloring book. Neil and I also did some large meal prep to make weeknight dinners this year easier we will share on the blog soon!

Overall, I am excited for the new year and getting back to our normal routine. This time of year can be hard after the parties, celebrations, and time off. Putting all of our Christmas decorations away is normally something I put off as long as possible but this year I was glad to clean up and de-clutter the house. It feels like a fresh start.

I want to refine my morning routine and get back to a more regular schedule after the chaos of the holidays. Having the time in my morning helps me to feel grounded the rest of the day.

I hope you all had a lovely time over the holidays. I look forward to the new year and sharing more of our projects and adventures with you all!

Happy Holidays!
