What have you been watching lately? This winter has been El Niño and we have had a ton of rain, especially compared to the drought years we have had recently. I love the rain but it definitely makes me want to stay in during the evenings and curl up on the couch.

We enjoy watching movies but I have a hard time staying up for an entire movie on the week days so we do shows during the week. We generally like to stick to one show and make our way through it, but have recently been alternating between 2 or 3.

  • Fixer Upper
  • Master of None
  • Downton Abbey
  • Game of Thrones
  • Mr. Robot
  • The Big Short (one movie for kicks!)

We have been obsessed with Fixer Upper, which we found while on our Florida trip. We have been just finished season one and love it. It definitely makes me want to do more work on our place and in the future buy a “fixer upper’ to make our own. My other new favorite is Master of None by Aziz Ansari from Netflix. It was recommended by my best friend Kara and the blog Cup of Jo. Each episode is short and hilarious . I connect with his humor and love watching one of these episodes after a longer, darker episode of some other shows. It is the perfect night cap!

We had a few series we were behind on that we have been catching up with including Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones. I love both of the series! Downton is so good (we aren’t done yet so no spoilers, please) and I will sad it is over but have enjoyed the story. With Game of Thrones I definitely enjoy the show but I have a hard time because I read all of the books and they have made some drastic changes as well as taken the plot farther than the current books. Oh well, it is still good and I am good at not spoiling it for Neil. We just started Mr. Robot which is a thriller series that we are just getting into. It definitely holds my interest and scares me a bit, which I enjoy.

We also just watched The Big Short which I really enjoyed. At first I was surprised by the style but it quickly grew on me and I loved learning how crazy the 2008 crash was. It is super interesting and frightening. I thought the various actors did a good job and am looking forward to watching more movies.

I would love some recommendations for movies and shows.
